Who we build for
Websites for charter captains
Most charter captains sell their trips through a listing site that takes a commission and keeps the customer. That is a fine way to fill a slow week and a bad way to build a business, because the relationship belongs to the listing.
A site of your own is where somebody who already heard your name goes to book. It is also the only version of your trips an assistant can read and quote.
What this site has to do
- Say what each trip is, plainly: how long, what time it leaves, what you are fishing for, what it costs, and how many people it takes.
- Work on a phone held one-handed on a dock, because that is where it gets read.
- Say what is included and what to bring, which is the question every first-timer asks and most sites answer nowhere.
- Be true in February as well as July, so an out-of-season visitor learns when you run rather than that you are gone.
What a customer asks an assistant, and what it needs from you
These are the questions people put to ChatGPT and Gemini about a business like yours. The right-hand column is the part that has to exist in text on a page before your name can come back as the answer.
| What they ask | What the assistant needs |
|---|---|
| Book a salmon charter out of Muskegon in July | Your trips, the season they run, and how somebody books one |
| How much is a half day charter on Lake Michigan? | Your prices written as text, not inside a picture |
| What do I need to bring on a fishing charter? | Your own answer, in your words, on a page |
| Charter that takes kids near Grand Haven | Your capacity and whether families are welcome |
| Who runs walleye trips out of Ludington? | The species you target, named |
The pages you actually need
- The trips
- One block per trip with hours, start time, target species and price. This is the page an assistant quotes.
- The boat
- Length, capacity, and what is on board. People are deciding whether to put their family on it.
- What to bring
- The most-asked question in the business, and almost nobody publishes the answer.
- The season
- What runs when. Salmon in July is a different trip from steelhead in April and customers know it.
- Photos of real fish
- Your own deck, your own guests. It is the proof nobody can fake and stock photography cannot buy.
You do not have to work any of this out. We research the business and build the whole thing before you pay anything, then you say what is wrong with it.
Questions people ask
I already list on a charter booking site. Do I need my own?
My season is five months. Is a website worth it year round?
We also build for marinas, restaurants, on-water tow operators, shops and boutiques and trades and home services, on the Michigan lakeshore only.
See yours before you decide.
We build it first. If it is not right you say so, and if you do not want it you owe nothing.
